Tyrolean River Crossing in Nare

In many parts of the Nare the river flows along a sheer wall on one side but with a river bank on the opposite side.

The river was crossed many times using Tyroleans. The rope was fixed in place initially by launching a grappling hook across using an air launcher.

The first person across then fixed the rope more securely and as much out of the wateras possible).

Traverse in Nare

In areas where the sheer walls were relatively short or where there was no bank on either side the walls had to be traversed.

Steel pegs were driven into cracks in the rocks and safety lines attached.
