A British team has recently been exploring the Southern Hills area of Mulu. The eight member team has now returned to UK.
The main objective was to do a surface resurvey to accurately locate the entrances of the caves of the Southern Hills area. A total of 17kms of surface surveying was carried out and all known cave entrances were located as well as the discovery of a previously unknown large entrance. Unfortunately the accessible cave was not extensive.
In addition scientific work was carried out in Clearwater Cave involving geological observations and speleothem dating throughout all the levels.
Full details are now available on the Mulu Caves Project website.
