During a visit to Camp 5 in Gunung Mulu National Park in November 2009, Dave Clucas and Dave Gill took the opportunity to scout the base of Gunung Api to search for signs of sinks which may be feeding into the Whiterock River section of Whiterock Cave in the Clearwater Cave System.

This mini expedition to Southern Vietnam took place from 1st to 12th January 2010. A team of three people met in Saigon and travelled by bus to Ha Tien on the Mekong Delta.

After visiting the government office in the provincial capital of Rach Gia, the team, together with their assigned guide and translator, explored and mapped a group of of caves in Da Dung Mountain and a series of caves further afield.
