An Expedition to Explore Caves in Papua New Guinea

The caves of New Britain have the largest known underground rivers in the world.
The Nare River Cave shown in this picture and explored to its terminal sump by a British expedition in 1984 has a river with an estimated flow in excess of twenty cubic metres per second.
Conservation
The expedition's ultimate aim is to preserve these natural wonders and to conserve the unique environment in which they are situated.
Latest News
17th April 2006. All the members have now left New Britain after a very succesfull expedition. In total 12.5 kms of cave has been discovered including Mageni, the second longest cave in the Nakana Mountainsi. This was left due to time contraints with the cave still continuing.
