Expedition Log

Day 23 Thursday 2nd February 2006 (Groundhog Day)
After lunch, Stephen, Matt and Nancy went down the Ora Doline. The water level was a bit lower than on Tuesday. Matt went upstream and did a big stretch and step-across on some boulders to get to the other side. He rigged a rope so that Stephen and Nancy could cross the river safely.
After checking out the views, Stephen set up for a photo which took some coordination because the river was loud and it was hard to communicate. When they had finished they went to some small pools to take baths and wash laundry before heading up. A big tree had apparently fallen while they were down in the doline and blocked the trail right before the intersection with the main trail. However, it turned out that they had missed the trail. They got back to camp at 6.30pm, just before it became too dark to see the trail without a light.
