Objectives

At the pre-expedition meeting it was agreed that the focus would need to be adjusted from day to day to take account of available personnel to ensure adequate safety cover should a rescue be required. During the last expedition the exploration of Moon Cave had to be abandoned to provide enough people for the new discoveries in Whiterock.

The extent of the Whiterock system now required two underground overnight camps and therefore any incidents would require a lot of people. Fortunately this expedition had a very strong team enabling simultaneous exploration of both Moon Cave and Whiterock.

The primary objectives this time were:-

• Moon continuations
• Explore known Whiterock continuations
• Connect Solo to Clearwater
• Rediscover and survey Gawai's Cave
• Explore area around Canopy Cave in the Melinau Gorge
