Introduction

DJC in TitanCave explorer, Dave Clucas, has been caving since 1972 when he joined the Buxton Speleological Group. In 1983 he took part in a cave diving expedition to Greece and has also explored caves in Borneo, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Laos, Macedonia and USA.

A member of the Peak District Mines Historical Society since 1975, he has been involved in the exploration of many mines and caves. He has taken part in many cave digging projects including Titan Shaft (5 years), Snelslow cave (8 years) and Millclose Mine (25 years with 4 years spent digging Valley Shaft), all in Derbyshire, as well as other smaller projects in other parts of the UK. He has also been involved in several high profile conservation projects involving both mines and caves.

In 1988 he visited the Nare River Cave in East New Britain and was a member of the 2006 expedition to New Britain to explore the caves of the Nakanai Mountains with the Untamed Rivers of New Britain Expedition. He was involved with the Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation for over twenty years and was a member of the Derbyshire Section of the Cave Diving Group for over ten years serving on the committe for most of that time. Dave is now a member of the British Caving Association.

He was a founder member of the Buxton Sub Aqua Club and has been a member of the Eldon Pothole Club. He also holds a private pilot's licence and was a member of Manchester School of Flying and Avro Flying Club.

He has been a member of various expeditions with a spevial interest in Mulu Caves in Borneo.

He is currently living in Sarawak, Malaysia where he is busy with walking, caving and photography.
